The value of this book comes from the ideas developed based on practical business and management conditions faced by small Asian firms that strive to become global players in the information technology industry.

Stan Shih is Chairman, CEO, and co-founder of The Acer Group. Shih is recognized around the globe for his achievements in brand-business building, and for his unique models of management. He has led Acer to become the worldwide top-10 PC company. Shih's most cited business models include his Smiling Curve for the high-tech industry; the Client-Server Organizational Structure; and more recently the Internet Organization.

This book was written for both Asian and non-Asian executives and academics, with openly sharing the successes and failures of Acer. The contents were initially taught in a Masterclass for Executive MBA students in National Chaotung University at Taiwan in Year 2000.

Internet Organization is a strategical organization structure for the companies in a knowledge-based economy. Shih also illustrates Acer’s brand triangle diagram as well as high-touch vision in the book.
